2007 Under-23 World Champion Storm is currently one of the sport's top lightweight scullers. He took a bronze medal in the Under-23 World Championships in 2005, following this up with the gold medal in 2006 - a feat he repeated in Strathclyde in 2007.
Storm was also one of the only scullers to get close to World Champion Duncan Grant in 2007, racing him closely at the World Cup regattas in both Amsterdam and Lucerne. Originally from Invercargill, Storm trains at Lake Karapiro and is a former Maori Sportsman of the Year.
In 2008 Storm secured a place in the Olympic class LIghtweight Double, successfully qualifying the boat for the Olympic Games with a win at Poznan. Unlucky not to make the main final, Storm and Peter Taylor nevertheless won the B Final gaining a ranking of seventh and markingt hemselves out as one of the world's top lightweight double sculls, and one of the youngest as well. Back in the summer squad for the 2008-2009 season, Storm will be aiming to maintain his form and build on the promise of 2008. |
