Rowers make a little more Olympic history
25/08/2008 9:32:57 a.m.

Rowing made a little more Olympic history yesterday when the gold medal winning Evers Swindell twins became the first couple, and first twins, to carry the New Zealand flag at an Olympic closing ceremony. And Hamish Bond also hit the headlines as the country's official 1,000th Olympian.

New Zealand Olympic Committee secretary-general Barry Maister named Bond as number 1000 as the team was preparing to make its way to the closing ceremony, where double gold medallists Caroline and Georgina Evers-Swindell carried the flag into the stadium.
